Privacy · Effective September 1, 2026

Built around your choices.

This policy explains what Golfr handles when you use the iPhone app, visit golfr.life, join the waitlist, or contact us. We wrote it to be read—not merely accepted.

01 · On your iPhone

Your swing media stays local by default.

Videos, photos, notes, measurements, and preferences are stored on your device unless you choose to export or share them.

02 · Optional services

You decide when protected features run.

Camera, microphone, photo library, and Speech Recognition access require your permission and support features you choose.

03 · On our website

The waitlist needs only your email.

MailerLite manages subscriptions, while privacy-focused Vercel Web Analytics helps us understand aggregate site traffic.

01 · Scope

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to the Golfr iPhone app, the golfr.life website, the Golfr email waitlist, and support or privacy messages sent to us. In this policy, “Golfr,” “we,” and “us” refer to the developer and operator of those services.

Third-party websites or services you open from Golfr have their own privacy practices. We link to relevant provider policies below so you can review them directly.

02 · The iPhone app

Information handled by the app

Swing media and analysis

When you record, import, analyze, annotate, trim, or save a swing, Golfr may handle videos, photos, body-position information, shot measurements, club selections, notes, and related analysis results. These items are stored on your device in the app’s private storage or in your photo library when you explicitly save them there.

Golfr does not upload your swing videos or photos to a Golfr-operated server as part of normal app use. If you export or share an item using iOS, the destination you select processes that item under its own privacy terms.

Camera, microphone, and photo library

Golfr requests camera and microphone access to record swings and related audio. Photo library access lets you select existing media or save media when you ask the app to do so. You can deny or later change these permissions in iOS Settings, though the related features will then be unavailable.

Speech Recognition

If you choose voice transcription for a note, Golfr uses Apple’s Speech Recognition framework. The app prefers on-device recognition when it is available. Depending on your device, language, settings, and Apple service availability, audio to be transcribed may be sent to Apple. You can control Golfr’s access under Settings → Privacy & Security → Speech Recognition. Apple describes this processing in its Siri, Dictation & Privacy notice.

Preferences and diagnostics

The app stores settings and feature state—such as selected options, handedness, onboarding progress, and local identifiers—on your device so features work consistently. Golfr may also use timing and file information from its own app container to operate media and analysis features.

Remote content

Some screens may display YouTube thumbnails or let you open YouTube content. When remote content loads or you open it, your device connects to Google or YouTube and may provide ordinary request information such as your IP address, browser or device information, and the requested URL. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

03 · The website

Information handled by golfr.life

Waitlist email

If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you enter and send it to MailerLite. We use it to manage your subscription and send Golfr launch, TestFlight, or product updates. When those emails are sent, MailerLite may process delivery, bounce, and engagement information—such as whether your email client reports opens or clicks—to operate and measure the mailing list. Do not place sensitive information in the email field.

Vercel Web Analytics

The homepage uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate visits. Vercel describes this service as cookie-free and anonymous: it records limited page-view information such as the page, referrer, approximate region, browser, operating system, and device type without tying it to a persistent identity across sites or days. We do not send your waitlist email as an analytics event. See Vercel’s Analytics privacy documentation.

Hosting logs and Google Fonts

Vercel hosts golfr.life and may process standard technical request logs needed to deliver and secure the site. Our pages also request brand typefaces from Google Fonts; that connection may provide Google with technical request information such as your IP address, user agent, and the font files requested. See the Vercel Privacy Notice and Google Privacy Policy.

Messages to us

If you email Golfr, we receive your email address and whatever information you include. Please avoid sending swing media or other sensitive material unless it is necessary for your support request.

04 · Use

Why information is used

We use information only as reasonably needed to:

  • provide the app features you choose, including capture, analysis, playback, saving, transcription, and simulator features;
  • remember app preferences and maintain local history;
  • manage the waitlist and send requested Golfr updates;
  • understand aggregate website performance and improve the site;
  • answer support, privacy, and safety messages; and
  • protect Golfr, our users, and our services, or comply with legal obligations.

Golfr does not sell your waitlist email. We do not use swing media to build advertising profiles or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

05 · Providers

When information reaches another company

We use a small number of providers for specific functions:

  • Apple provides iOS permissions, photo-library access, optional Speech Recognition, and App Store distribution.
  • MailerLite receives waitlist email addresses and manages subscription emails. Review MailerLite’s Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel hosts the website and provides Web Analytics.
  • Google and YouTube provide website fonts and optional remote video or thumbnail content.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer. A recipient may process information in a country different from yours and under its applicable laws.

06 · Retention

How long information is kept

  • App data: local media, notes, results, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them, reset the relevant feature, or remove the app. Items you saved to Photos remain there until you delete them from Photos.
  • Waitlist data: we keep your email while you are subscribed or while reasonably needed to administer the waitlist. Unsubscribing stops marketing messages; you may separately request deletion.
  • Support messages: we retain correspondence as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain support records, protect the service, or meet legal obligations.
  • Provider records: service providers may retain limited logs or backups under their policies and legal obligations.
07 · Your choices

Control stays with you

  • Change camera, microphone, photo library, and Speech Recognition permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Delete saved app records using the app’s delete controls, and delete exported media from Photos separately.
  • Unsubscribe using the link included in a Golfr email.
  • Email us to ask what waitlist information we hold, correct it, object to its use, or request that we delete it, subject to applicable law.

Golfr does not currently require a first-party user account. Deleting the app removes its private local container from that iPhone, subject to normal iOS backup behavior.

08 · Safety

Security, children, and changes

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Children

Golfr is not directed to children under 13, and the waitlist is not intended to collect their personal information. If you believe a child submitted information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as Golfr changes. We will revise the effective date at the top of this page and provide additional notice when required.

09 · Contact

Questions should have a human answer.

For privacy questions or requests, email Golfr. Include the email address connected to your waitlist request so we can identify the correct record.
